Butterfly Wings

“Butterfly Wings”

- Relational intelligence; An I love you, I’m sorry, please forgive me & thank you poem -  to the divided shattered self, mending the soul.

I - A Faery Wind; the Fall

Darling, Ma Cherié,

Pumpkin-Sweet

can’t You see?

can’t You see?

please please please

i plead

open Your eyes!

On tip-toes

You stand at The Edge of The World

Your delicate fingers

playing with Butterflies

Only You can see

A false light;

those wicked faeries have lied to You

can’t You see?

Come back come back! i scream

loudly

Do not follow them!

But the Faery-Wind is strongest

at World’s-Edge

stealing all Sound

and Words

Logic can no longer reach You

II - Bread Crumbs

please; a gentle intention

for only i can save You!

for You

You are too stubborn and obstinate disregarding any sign of force!

Gasp - sharp intake -

please...

I love you.

I’m sorry.

Please forgive me.

Come

Come

Come then...

come back to me -

Please; The Final Stop.

III - Enflammé

Digging deep into my pockets

i look for anything to get Your attention.

Found:

A single match in an old matchbook.

With trembling fingers

i light the match.

a flickering thing;

small,

almost taken

each time by ghost-winds

Hurriedly, i hurl the small flame

into a pile of fallen leaves and dried grass.

Please...

Come back to me;

A whisper in the wind

Suddenly

Lightening strikes

and a Flaming Sword

appears in the Night Sky

the ghost-winds die down...

the faery-fog dissipates

And i see that Our long skirts

have caught aflame

IV - Metamorphosis

You take pause,

And little i

step back.

For then

i realize

You and i

must

die.

Here,

at World’s-Edge.

Hand in Hand

One Cold and One Hot

We near the Edge

encircled by Fire and Flame;

an Ice-Wind slicing Our cheeks,

the weight of Our toes crumbling

the shaky earth beneath Us

We look to each other,

You and i

How did We get here?

And laughingly,

out of insanity or bravery

We Leap

Two Halves

Melding

Into the Whole;

Trusting

Only In

Butterfly-Wings.”
